Salzburg.. and the sound of music

Anyone familiar with "The Sound of Music"? If you happen to remember, this is the square where Fraulein Maria first brought the 7 children of Capt. Von Trapp out to play for the first time. I still cannot believe I have already been there. The scenery was astounding, no wonder they picked the place for filming.

The square

See what I mean?

I wonder who own the house

Festung Hohensalzburg from afar.. It's a beautiful fortress but getting up there was theatrical!

The weather was beautiful, and we had a very wonderful time. Since Salzburg's attractions are quite reachable by public transport and relatively close to each other, we managed to go to Helbrunn where the Trick Fountains, owned by Austrian monarchs a long time ago are located. The "water tricks and games" are indeed intelligent and we were tricked a few times!

My favourite part of the park

Water tricks..water comes out from the seat, and from the table wetting all the guest except the Archbishop! Intelligent..and amusing..

Waters everywhere..

Then we strolled along the parks to take few pictures, and leave for the Maribel Garden.. and if you see the Sound of Music, during the song Do Re Mi .. (yes, that one with "Doe..a deer, a female deer..), this is the place where the part of the ending of the song is filmed.

Maribel Garden: serene is the only word to describe it..

Hapeee..in Maribel Garden

hurmm...

It was exhausting but we managed to board the train to München afterwards. I wish I had more time in Salzburg..
